Steve Cates of Council Bluffs is currently working for US Congressional Representative Steve King by visiting citizens and officials in various communities in southwestern Iowa ‘taking the pulse of the public.’ Steve has been a public servant in law enforcement for thirty years, beginning as a jailer in the new jail that replaced the Squirrel-Cage jail in Council Bluffs. He has worked in many law enforcement tasks throughout his police career culminating with his work as detective with the Council Bluffs Police. Since retiring from police work Steve has worked with the re-election campaign of Representative King and now is one of six working for King in his congressional district. Steve indicated it is interesting work as liaison to Rep. King, and he has a special perspective on current legislative issues related to law enforcement.
